We take a look at what is in store for the annual three day summer show, organised by LOFA
SOLEX (The Summer Outdoor Living Exhibition) is a unique event which brings together all the leading manufacturers of garden products – furniture, barbecues, gazebos, parasols, outdoor lighting and play equipment – and provides a showcase for all the exciting new developments in design, environmental manufacturing, sustainability and production for both the retail and contract markets.
This year’s show will take place in Hall 5 at the NEC, Birmingham, for the second year at this venue. 2013 was the biggest SOLEX so far and this year there are even more exhibitors and greater space take-up, an increase of 10% over last year’s show.
The 2014 event promises to be even better, building on the first six successful shows with more exhibition space, new exciting developments and more exhibitors, but retaining the relaxed, friendly and business-like atmosphere of this key event, and will aim to attract more visitors, greater media/press enquiries and professional specifiers of garden products including landscape architects, designers and contractors.
The new venue proved to be very popular last year and the visitor numbers were at their highest. Hopefully this year the upward trend will continue. There will be over 65 exhibitors, including 8 brand new ones, all showcasing new products for the 2015 season.
The event’s popular Enterprise zone gives new candidate companies the opportunity to show their products to buyers and get a foot on the ladder to membership of LOFA and a space in the full show.
New for 2014 will be a re-designed New Product Showcase, presenting visitors with the best new products that LOFA Members have to offer. LOFA is also sponsoring a new venture this year; the New Product Design Showcase, in which University students, who have an interest in outdoor living design, can present their ideas to exhibitors and visitors, with the goal to be commissioned to design for LOFA Members.
Also new for 2014 is the ‘Greatest Awards’, an award ceremony supported by SOLEX, which will take place at the National Motorcycle Museum on the evening of Monday 7th July. There will be free transport from local hotels to the venue and booking forms are available from the LOFA Office.
In regards to making your way there on the day transport links to the NEC are fantastic, with air, rail and road the ideal options and SOLEX is providing free car parking for all visitors. Accommodation is available locally, and the list of partner hotels is on the SOLEX website.
SOLEX is taking place at the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham, from the 7th -9th July and will occupy Hall 5.
